Microsoft teams up with Yahoo
… It’s official!
On July 29th Microsoft announced that they have signed a 10 year agreement with Yahoo. This collaboration expected to take effect early 2010 will have Microsoft supplying the power of their search engine platform “Bing” to Yahoo, while Yahoo focuses on it’s core business and handles the search engine’s paid advertisements.
Microsoft’s AdCenter platform will fulfill advertisements for both companies and pricing for paid search engine advertisements will continue to be set by it’s automated auction process.
The combined power of these two industry giants will provide search engine innovation for the industry. Users will experience faster more relevant search results, while advertisers will receive better results for their money.
I don’t know about you but I think this is exciting news for us Internet marketers. For Google, who currently controls over 70% of the search market, will finally have some serious competition. And as you know competition is usually a good things for consumers.
I would think we can expect to see lower ad costs, and perhaps Google cutting us Internet marketers a little slack, and stop being so hard on their advertisers. Pure speculation on my part …
for no one knows for sure, so I guess we will just have to wait and see what the future brings.

Remember were all in this together … so keep you eye on the horizon for new advertising opportunities.
Till next time,
Rob
